SBIR Portal does not require user accounts or login for any public features. You can search, browse awards, and use the AI chat completely anonymously.

What We Collect

We do not collect personal data. There are no third-party ad trackers, no analytics cookies beyond essential Next.js session cookies, and no user profiling of any kind.

We log aggregate API usage metrics (model calls, token counts) for cost monitoring purposes. These logs contain no message content and cannot be linked to individual users.

AI Chat & Third-Party Processing

When you use the AI chat, your messages are sent to OpenRouter (a third-party AI API provider) for processing. Chat messages are not stored on our servers beyond the duration of your active browser session. Once you close the tab or navigate away, the conversation is gone.

OpenRouter's handling of data transmitted through their API is governed by their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review it if you have concerns about AI-processed data.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for Next.js to function (e.g., theme preference). No tracking cookies, no third-party advertising cookies.

Admin Access

Administrative routes are protected by shared-secret authentication. This applies only to site administrators and does not affect public users.
